'Creating videos for conferences using collected footage from others and my own captured footage.'
There’s a lot more to milk management than just machines and processes. At its core, it’s about people - those behind the technology, managing the systems, and keeping everything running smoothly. My role was to capture this human element, showcasing how Waikato’s innovative solutions integrate seamlessly into real-world dairy operations. I filmed at one of their managed facilities in the Western Cape, while other teams covered additional locations across South Africa.
The result? A series of insightful videos designed to bring their system to life at major conferences, emphasising not just efficiency but the people who make it happen.
01/ TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducted on-site consultations to understand facility operations and determine key visuals.
Created shot lists and detailed filming requirements to ensure a structured and efficient shoot day.
Captured high-quality footage that highlighted both the technology and the people behind the system.
Filmed within an active facility, adapting to the environment to get the best possible shots.
Produced final video content tailored for conference use, focusing on impactful visuals since audio wasn’t the primary communication method.
Created additional footage for Waikato’s internal and external communications, leading to the development of a YouTube channel to expand their digital presence.
02/ WINS & HIGHLIGHTS
Successfully managed and executed the project from planning to final delivery.
Gained hands-on exposure to an industry I never expected to work in.
Got to touch some cows. Big win.
Went beyond the initial scope by producing extra content, leading Waikato to explore new marketing opportunities.
03/ WHAT I LEARNT
Clearly communicating what’s achievable within the given budget and timeframe is key—clients need realistic expectations.
Going the extra mile doesn’t go unnoticed. The additional content I created inspired Waikato to expand their content strategy beyond conferences.
When filming in a high-activity environment, adaptability is crucial - plans change, and you need to roll with it to get the best results.
